Retro MANIA!!!
Maybe I’m just new to the shoe game but I’ve been noticing a LOT more Retros coming out. Last year we had the 12s, 13s, 2s, and highlighted at the end of the year by the Cool Grey 11s (SICK!). I was lucky enough to pick up a pair of each of those.
With this coming year it seems there’s even MORE Retros coming out! My wallet isn’t big enough for all of them so I’ve narrowed my choices down to 5-6 of them (which I’ll reveal at the end). Here’s a quick preview of what’s coming out this next year (confirmed releases).
Retro 3 “Cements”

The Retro 3 is one of my favorite (if not #1 on my list) J’s. This particular colorway so happens to be my favorite one. PLUS it’s releasing THIS WEEK. I can’t wait…but I guess I’ll have to. These shoes are most popular for being the shoes that MJ wore when he won the Dunk Contest in 1988 (I believe). Nowadays I wouldn’t suggest wearing these to ball in. The insole doesn’t provide much support because it’s very flat. Still, these will be great to rock for casual wear.
Retro 13 “Playoffs”

Last seen in the Playoffs in 1997 these Retros bring to mind MJ’s “Black Cat” nickname. I think I might have to pass on these (not because I don’t want them) but because I have a shoe spending cap and these might put me over. Regardless, beautiful shoes that anyone would be lucky to add to their collection. My prediction is that they’ll be even more popular than the “Altitudes” from last month.
Retro 3 “MLK”

I really like these Retros. The black and gold colorway works really well with pretty much everything…however, I would feel like a poser in these shoes. So I probably won’t be getting these. But that doesn’t mean I don’t like ‘em.
Retro 7 White/Orion/Infrared

I’ve never been a huge fan of Retro 7s but I understand why people like them. There’s going to be at least 3 (confirmed) Retro 7 releases this year and of the 3 this one seems to be the least talked about.
Retro 7 “Bordeaux”

Of the Retro 7 colorways these ones are the most hyped. Personally, again, not a big fan. Especially this colorway. I guess I just can’t pull off the crazy colors.
Retro 5 “Wolf Grey”

No set release date other than the month of May. These Retro 5s are one of 3 Retro 5 releases this year. I’m a big fan of the 5s but just not this colorway.
Retro 3 “True Blues”

These shoes also have no set release date…but they do have a spot on my shoe rack! I love the 3s and these are a must have.
Retro 7 “Cardinals”

Of all the Retro 7 colorways I like these ones the most. I probably won’t cop ‘em but I find myself liking them the more I look at them.
Retro 5 “USA”

The picture is kind of dark but the colors are white, orion, and red. The second of the 5s to release this year these kicks are pretty sick.
Retro 11 Low Black/Red

The Retro 11s Low are just as comfortable as the mids. If I wasn’t saving my money for another Retro 11 release this year *spoiler* then I would consider these. One of 2 Retro 11 Low releases of the year.

I couldn’t find a picture of this shoe but I’d imagine it looks like the Black/Red version but White/Black, predominately white.

I know those aren’t the Retro 3s but this is what the colorway is going to resemble on these 3s. Like ‘em. Don’t love ‘em.

Retro 11 “Concords”
December ‘11 (most likely 12/23…just in time for the holidays again)
Following up the Cool Greys of ‘10 this is one of the most popular colorways of the Retro 11s. I liked the Space Jams and the Colombias more but the Concords are the must-have shoe of 2011.
RUMOR MILL
Not sure if this is true but there is a rumor spreading that Jordan Brand is going to release a double pack of Retro 5s with both the Laney and Grapes. If so this pack may vault up to the “must own” status of 2011…and it will also be really really really expensive.
So my list are the Cements, True Blues, Concords, Black 5s. If the Laney pack releases I will probably get those instead of the Black 5s.
